Name of the Patient : Abc Xyzalmn / F / 15 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzmat.
Examination : M.R.I. of the Cervico-dorsal Spine.
(Post-contrast Study).

CLINICAL PROFILE :

C/O neck pain with paresthesias in all four extremities since 3 weeks.
H/O fever +.

EXAMINATION :

T2 Weighted sagittal images of the cervical spine were obtained.

After administration of contrast the following parameters were used :

4 mm thick T1 Weighted sagittal images through the cervical, dorsal and lumbar spines.

7 mm thick T1 Weighted axial images through the cervico-dorsal spine.

5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted axial images through the brain.

OBSERVATION :

There is still seen slight swelling of the cervical spinal cord which shows an ill-defined, hyperintense signal on the T2 Weighted images, centrally.

The T2 Weighted sagittal images of the dorsal spine reveal normal signal intensity of the dorsal spinal cord, on this study.

The T2 Weighted axial images of the brain reveal an ill-defined hyperintense signal in the periventricular white matter in the right frontal region. Inflammatory changes are noted in the left mastoid air cells.

After administration of contrast, there is no focal or diffuse area of abnormal enhancement in the spinal cord, brain parenchyma or the meninges on this study.

IMPRESSION :

As compared to the previous MRI (study no:00003) dated 00.00.00, the signal change in the dorsal spine has nearly completely resolved. There is slight decrease in the diameter of the cervical spinal cord with decrease in intensity of the cord on this study.

No enhancing lesion is noted.

Altered signal in the periventricular white matter in the right frontal region is of ? etiology, ?? demyelinating lesion.

If clinically indicated a dedicated study of the brain would be worthwhile.
