Name of the Patient : Abc Xyz Rlmn / M / 24 yrs.
Referred by : Dr. Abc Xyzonawalla.
Examination : M.R.I. of the S. I. Joints.

CLINICAL PROFILE :

C/O backache radiating to the LLE since 3-4 years.
H/O fall 3-4 years back.

EXAMINATION :

M.R.I of the S. I. joints was performed using the following parameters :

5 mm thick T1 Weighted and T2 Weighted (with fat saturation) axial images.
5 mm thick T1 Weighted and STIR coronal images.

OBSERVATION :

There is replacement of the normal marrow by hypointense areas on the T1 Weighted images in the lower half of the left iliac bone adjacent to the left sacro-iliac joint. These are seen to turn heterogeneously hyperintense on the T2 Weighted and STIR images. The left lower half of the sacrum is also involved. The adjacent cortex is breached with involvement of the left sacro-iliac joint space.

The right sacro-iliac joint appears normal. The right iliac bone and the sacral ala show normal signal intensity. The visualized soft tissues are unremarkable.

The visualized musculature of the pelvis appears normal.

IMPRESSION :

Altered signal in the left iliac bone with involvement of the lower half of the left sacrum and the left sacro-iliac joint space is probably inflammatory in etiology.

The possibility of an infective etiology seems less likely.
